Welcome to the Dawe General Music classroom in room 1. We’ve turned this beautiful classroom into a musical world filled with instruments, posters, stereos to make a fun filled learning environment. We make lots of sounds in this area and have a great time. It is a great place to learn musical ideas. The opportunities for great music making seem to be endless!
We now have a Smart Board in the room, and we are having lots of fun with this new tool!
In Stoughton, all elementary students enjoy music class once a week for 42 minutes. Students sing, listen, and dance to music in different styles and from around the world. By singing, moving to music, and playing instruments, they learn musical concepts and practice reading music notation. In their weekly music classes, students have fun experiencing folk music and playing singing games. Additionally, third graders learn to play the recorder. Fourth and fifth graders sing in the chorus and have the opportunity to play a band instrument. Every student performs in at least one concert a year, which is a great way to demonstrate what they have learned while having fun!
If you check the Dawe School website under special events, there are many pictures of musical events as well as a video from our performance at the Providence Bruins game. Also, check out the new Dawe School Dragon Song. The link is under notices.
